Sam manages the external communications and brand identities for both Islington-based Cripplegate Foundation, and leading local philanthropy initiative Islington Giving. Each year, Cripplegate Foundation awards around £2m in grants to improve the lives of Islington residents. Islington Giving brings residents, businesses and other organisations together to make a positive difference in the borough. Its success, having reached 20,000 local people, and raised £6m, since 2010, has inspired a London’s Giving movement to spring up across the capital.

Sam has five years experience of finance, HR management and business development within the charity sector, as an employee, a consultant, and at board level. He worked with the Community Foundation in Wales until 2016, and was Trustee of Welsh women’s empowerment charity Women Making a Difference until 2017. He has advised a range of charities on HR management and communication.

Sam has an active interest in how demographic and economic change impact on organisational strategies and cross-sectoral decision making. He is currently midway through an MSc in the Politics of Population Change, Migration, and Ecology, at Birkbeck, University of London.
