Recent graduate Bei Zhang decided to study in London for her CIPD Level 3 Diploma in HR Practice. After completing her diploma in just three months, she has landed her first HR job! We asked Bei to tell us how she found studying with us and what skills and benefits she has gained along the way.
I currently work as a HR intern for a company providing educational training and work placements for students.
My degree is not HR related but I wanted to pursue a career in human resources. I choose Acacia because it provides a face-to-face learning experience and I believe it is the most beneficial approach for me to meet local HR professionals and also develop myself in a practical way. I can also choose my own pace of study – making my own timetable which was important for me to meet my goals.
I studied for the CIPD Level 3 diploma in HR Practice with Acacia, and attended both evening and block weekend classes. I decided to study for my CIPD qualification because I am a beginner and was advised to start from the entry-level, and cover different aspects of HR.
I really enjoyed meeting so many HR professionals who are also taking this course, and also Acacia’s team of highly supportive tutors.
My favourite module was the recruitment one, because I liked the mock panel interview discussions which I had to carry out as part of the assignment.
Yes. The Level 3 diploma consists of 8 modules which I planned to complete within three months. The flexibility of Acacia’s timetable enabled me to do this, so I chose to attend three evening classes in London per week, plus a block weekend once a month – so I had a full on schedule! The efficiency and quality of work was a challenge for me and I struggled with some references for my assignment. However, I successfully overcame these challenges and I finished all of my assignments in three months.
The Acacia tutors and support team, throughout the course were all really nice and supportive and the classroom environment was happy and relaxing.
Since gaining the CIPD qualification I have learned to communicate professionally and added my Associate CIPD accreditation to my CV and Linkedin, which helped me to find my first HR role in the UK!
I have a social science degree background, and the level 3 CIPD diploma bridged my knowledge and skill gaps in HR. When I looked for HR internships, it contributed a lot as I had to do telephone and face-to-face interviews. As a result I got my first HR role, and I am currently taking an HR internship in London which I am really enjoying.
I would recommend Acacia Learning because the face-to-face learning is what I enjoyed most and found it so helpful and effective. Thank you and best wishes to Acacia!
