Learning & Development Apprenticeships

Using the Levy to fund an L&D Apprenticeship

Our team is here to support you to make the most out of the apprenticeship levy with our CIPD accredited learning and development programmes.

  • If you're a business, we provide flexible L&D apprenticeship programmes fully funded through the levy.
  • If you're an apprenticeship training provider, we can enhance your apprenticeship offering with our CIPD approved qualifications.

Our CIPD apprenticeship advisers will provide the support needed to make sure you fully understand the apprenticeship levy. We will work with you to tailor a programme which ensures that funds are being used to meet your business needs.

An Acacia Learning & Development Apprenticeship includes

  • A Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualification in L&D or People Practice
  • A flexible approach to satisfy the 20% off-the-job training requirement
  • CIPD accredited trainers delivering high quality face-to-face sessions
  • Online learning resources to support learning anywhere at anytime
  • Scheduled monthly assessor check-ins with a L&D specialist for extra support
  • Networking and graduation events to broaden your employees L&D network

Our L&D Apprenticeships

Your L&D Practitioner apprentice will typically complete the programme in 18 months and achieve a CIPD Level 3 Certificate in People Practice. Depending on your business needs, the programme can be tailored to incorporate:

  • Core behaviours for people professionals
  • Becoming an effective L&D Practitioner
  • Understanding the role of L&D within your organisation
  • Record, analyse and use people information
  • Supporting change within your organisation
  • Developing people through coaching and mentoring

Your L&D Consultant apprentice will typically complete the programme in 20 months and achieve a CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Organisational Learning & Development.

Throughout their programme, they will develop their practice as an L&D professional, developing the following skills:

  • Developing professional practice in L&D
  • Understanding L&D within the context of your organisation
  • Developing business cases for L&D using data and metrics
  • Designing and developing digital and blended learning solutions
  • Facilitating collective and social learning
  • Understanding organisation development
  • Implementing coaching and mentoring across an organisation

Who is an L&D Apprenticeship for?

If your organisation has a wage bill of over £3 million a year, you will pay into the apprenticeship levy. Your company then has 24 months to invest this money or lose it.

If your company doesn’t pay into the apprenticeship levy, the government will still fund 95% of the cost of the apprenticeship.

Our expert team will support you to make effective use of the opportunity to:

  • Enhance the skills of your existing staff
  • Employ new talent
  • Maximise your return on investment

How your L&D Apprenticeship will be assessed

To achieve the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice, you will complete four written assignments. To complete the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Organisational Learning & Development, you will complete seven written assignments.

You will develop one of the written assignments into a longer work based project. You will then take part in a professional discussion to demonstrate that you have met the learning objectives for the programme. This is called the End Point Assessment (EPA).
