Watch our Q&A webinar with Dr Lesley McLean, Lecturer/Programme Leader, MSc HRM (CIPD) Senior Fellow HEA at Edinburgh Napier University.
Lesley discusses how you can top up your CIPD level 7 Diploma to a full Masters in HRM.
Watch our Masters HRM top up Q&AThe dissertation is the centerpiece of the programme and a truly great challenge, in every aspect of the word, which enriches your practitioner and theoretical knowledge. It is easily the most beneficial academic experience I have had to date. The key for me was choosing a topic which is relatively unfamiliar and intriguing at the same time. This helped me sustain energy and motivation. One thing which cannot be underscored enough is planning and managing your time.
Napier’s Moodle site is meticulously organized and provides access to anything you may ever need and then some. The webinar sessions throughout the programme were really insightful and informative – make sure you prepare questions in advance! I have been away from university for 15 years and the resources at hand made this encore an utterly smooth affair. Being exactly 1,947 miles away, I never felt at a disadvantage in any shape or form.
The MSc [top-up] HRM degree with its research element has been a tough journey but it's both a challenging and rewarding course. I have found a great deal of satisfaction in learning more about a research project that interested me personally but will be of practical use to the sector I work in and even learnt new researcher skills which will be useful for employment. The time constraints of the research were particularly stressful at key stages of the year, so don't underestimate the commitment needed.
Kirsteen what an absolute dream! I’m delighted with a D1 – thank you! 😊 Really looking forward to celebrating with you and the others at the end of October! Thank you again for all your support and guidance – I’ve valued you so much through this process!
The support I received from the programme leader Kirsteen and my supervisor was fantastic and invaluable, without their help my dissertation would not exist!
